We are starting to get into our stride a bit now in this Women in Property series. Today, Helen and I are joined on the show by Samantha Collett. Perhaps you may know her from the What Sam Saw Today blog, which as it happens was one of the sites that inspired me to start The Property Voice around four years ago this month in fact and perhaps, she is equally as famous for one of her books How to Buy Property at Auction.
If you want to hear how to have the best job in the world, you will want to hear what Samantha has to say I’m sure!

Transcription of the show
Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Property Voice podcast. My name is Richard Brown and as always, it’s a pleasure to have you join me on the show again today.
We are starting to get into our stride a bit now in this Women in Property series. Today, Helen and I are joined on the show by Samantha Collett, perhaps you may know her from the What Sam Saw Today blog, which as it happens was one of the sites that inspired me to start The Property Voice and perhaps equally as famously for one of her books How to Buy Property at Auction.
Needless to say, Sam has a very interesting story and in her own words is ‘living the dream’! So, let’s have a listen now to find out more…
Property Chatter
Discussion between Samantha, Helen & Richard (transcription to follow).
As with Vanessa last time, Sam shared so many pearls of wisdom in her inimitable style. She made her name and also her portfolio of income-generating BTLs primarily through auction purchases and confessed to being something of a recovering auction addict even today, despite travelling around the world twice! She was not afraid to roll her sleeves up and muck in to learn the trade and also admitted to using gender stereotype to her advantage at times too.
I enjoyed hearing about some of her principles and suggested character traits too…It’s a long game, don’t antagonise people, ‘shit will happen', the need for ‘bounce-back-ability’, to just ‘be you’ and that making money is essentially a boring formula that you simply repeat! She also talked of risk and fear as if it does not exist, or at least how it does not affect her and how the idea of a safe and steady job can be far riskier as we are at the mercy of other people.
Finally, as she puts it, she has the best job in the world and as long as she protects the business and looks after her tenants, she can have an amazing life to ‘do frankly whatever she wants’.
Now, if this doesn’t inspire you, I am not sure what will!
I hope you enjoyed our little chat and if you want to connect with Samantha, then make sure you check out www.whatsamsawtoday.com to read more and connect with her directly.
OK, so that’s all for this week. If you want to talk about anything from today’s show, or just talk property investing more generally, email me at podcast@thepropertyvoice.net, I would be happy to hear from you! The show notes can be found at our website www.thepropertyvoice.net
All that is left to say, is thank you very much for listening once again this week and until next time on The Property Voice Podcast…it’s ciao-ciao.
