"When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier."

Motivation Monday - Richard's Insight
Having clearly understood values is like having an internal compass to keep us on track.
We are asked to make decisions all the time. Emotions and competing interests can come into play to fog our view as to what we ought to do. Consider a screaming child in a busy supermarket for example. The easy way out is to give them a bribe of some description in order to pacify them and reduce our embarrassment. However, if we have good health or respect for one another as a part of our core values, we can take a different path instead. Whilst it may be a harder path in the short-term (more screaming), it will ultimately pay off for the child and ourselves instead in terms of their overall health and respect for us as an authority figure...just ask Jo Frost a.k.a. Super Nanny!
Our values are what are most important to us and more often than not, no two people have an identical set of values either. This is part of what attracts us from some people and away from others...common values, but that's a whole other quote lol.
I have recently had a few situations that have required a tough choice to be made. However, being able to fall back on some of my core values has helped me to arrive at quick, clear decisions of how best to proceed on each occasion. More than this, I can relax in peace that I have been true to myself and if necessary can explain m decision if I want or need to.
