When to quit and when to stick with it is sometimes a tough call. One thing for sure, blindly pursuing a losing battle will usually only end up in a bloody defeat, so knowing when to quit is actually a skill or art form to master.
However, sometimes a victory or success may literally be just around the corner, despite many previous corners failing to produce that new road or the secret gate. Perseverance is definitely also a skill or art form to master too!
I recently heard of a lovely lady who had become a little despondent about her property business after slogging away for months and getting a series of rejections to many of her income-based property business proposals. She felt tired and low as a result, as I am sure we can all relate to.
However, no less than a week or so after admitting this feeling and in all honesty expressing a desire to give up...one single phone call changed everything. A potential client that had previously said no changed their mind and said yes instead and with it came a single deal that took a great bite of her monthly income target. One call just around the corner changed everything here, including her mindset. She now has renewed belief and hope and is far more positive about the future too. I am certain that the snowball has begun for her now too.
Why should she not have quit a week sooner? Well, for one thing, she was doing all the right things. She was very active and putting herself in as many situations as possible to get a definite yes or no. Even though there were many no's, there were lots of possibilities for one or two yes's as well. She only needs one or two yes's after all. You see, the no's were actually taking her closer to a yes in reality.
It is right to take stock and evaluate our position from time to time. This might suggest it is time to change course or quit what we are currently doing. But be smart about this, sometimes keeping going for just another corner or two might make ALL the difference between success or a near-miss 'failure'.
The point about a new road or a secret gate is that they did not seem to exist and so were out of sight...until they actually become visible to us. The trick then is to imagine they are there already and with assuredness act in such a way that their appearance is inevitable. Surely, those who do enough of the right things often enough will be rewarded with their new road or secret gate at some point.
Well done for going around that next corner my friend...you know who you are 🙂
