"It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change."
- Leon C. Megginson
Motivation Monday - Richard's Insight
Motivation Monday is back! Yes, after a little break, we are back on the scene with more great motivational insights to start off your week đŸ™‚
I often try to think about a theme each week and then go looking for a suitable quote to back it up. Sometimes it happens the other way around but less frequently. Today's MM fell into the former category...change is on my mind!
Did you note the emphasis in the quote above from Leon Megginson? It is not the strongest or most intelligent that will survive...contrary to the 'survival of the species' type of thinking. That Darwinian principle holds true over generations of a species, don't misunderstand me on that. What I am aiming at here is that within our own personal lives, it is the ability to change and adapt that will allow us to survive...and thrive.
'The only constant is change' and so, like it or not, we had better get used to the idea. There is no point in adopting the ostrich mentality and sticking our heads in the sand, that will only result in someone taking a bite out of our backsides!
So, accept, adjust and embrace the change - it is inevitable anyway, so we may as well get ahead of the curve and prepare for it. Just like civilisations, industries and corporations will all face a threat to their very existence, so too will each and every one of us...in a business context...too.
Be strong and be smart too...but most of all...be flexible, adaptable and ready for change to both defend yourself, but equally capitalise upon it when it arrives. The changes in BTL right now are a perfect example of how the tree has been shaken...will we fall out or move from tree to tree to avoid our downfall?
