'Your mindset can make you or break you - you get to decide, what's it to be?"

Motivation Monday - Richard's Insight
The power of thought is immense! I am not speaking about bending a spoon by sheer thought here; instead I am talking about how our thoughts ultimately drive our end-results.
OK, so how many times have you played the 'turn to green' traffic light game as you approach a red light? It doesn't always turn to green does it? No, it doesn't as the lights are usually on a pre-set timer or based on a sophisticated computer program that determines when they change. I know this, as I used to work for a company that made such systems. So, to expect the lights to turn green at my will, well it's not going to happen...unless the computer randomly determined it would at the same moment.
Drat! So, this mind-control-outcome thing is a load of old rubbish then is it?
Well, not exactly.
In my traffic light example, we are trying to control something that is outside of ourselves and not only that, is directly controlled by something else as well. So, we have little actual control and influence there.
However, we do have control over our own thoughts...yes, we bloomin well do!
If someone smiles at us, we can choose to smile back or glare as though they are from the plant Vlod instead. And you know what, if we do smile back at them, do you think they are more likely to speak to us as a result? Yes, they are more likely to speak to us, far more than if we glared at them as if they are some kind of alien being that's for sure.
Our warmth will attract them towards us. Once we are more connected, well, who knows what can happen!
This is a very simple example that can illustrate the power of thought and how it can ultimately lead to a result or action.
Stranger smiles - we decide to smile back (thought) - we actually smile back (action or behaviour) - they approach us and say hello (result / outcome).
Now, if we can get someone to say hello to us by a simple thought...what else can we do?
It's all in our thoughts and granted, some outcomes will be much harder than others, but if we maintain a positive, solution-oriented approach to our thoughts, then we are more likely to increase the odds of the end-result being in line with what we wanted it to be than the other way around.
Think about that the next time you want a yes from somebody and give it a bash.
No reason to go all woo-woo or NLP, just be positive, have in mind what outcome you would want and then simply hope for the best, rather than the worst 🙂
You get to decide...now that's kind of incredible when you think about it!
