"Excellence to me comes down to life organisation"
~ Anthony Joshua ~
Motivation Monday - Richard's Insight
Yep, he's topical! But if you listen to what he has to say, he is a real time example of someone working toward personal fulfilment and excellence...so, at 27 and still imperfect, as he freely admits, he is worth listening to!
Possibly the best illustration of 'life organisation', as AJ calls it, is what is known as the 'wheel of life'. This is a representation of the key elements in our life and how we need balance in each of them. There are some variations on the wheel of life theme but many of the main elements are as follows:
- Career / work / business
- Money
- Health & well being
- Friends & family
- Love / relationships
- Learning & personal growth
- Fun & recreation
- Physical environment /home
- Giving back & community
- Spirituality
These are all spokes in the wheel that keep the wheel of life turning in an even and balanced way. When one spoke is broken or damaged, it causes us problems, if several are broken, we might be heading for (or even in) trouble. However, keeping them all in great shape has to be for me at least the ultimate definition of excellence in life...for AJ too by the sound of things! It also takes deliberate effort and dedication.
I had a stroll on the beach with my wife today and we discussed this topic...not in the exact same terms...but we highlighted where we can still grow, improve and pay more attention to in our lives.
We are still striving for excellence...it's a lifelong journey after all.
So, how are you doing...which spokes need a little bit more time and attention to tun 'OK' into 'bloomin' brilliant' or excellence?
